I stopped drinking on Sunday. When will this pain end?!

Question:

I stopped drinking on Sunday. When will this pain end?

I have pain where the liver is. I've seen the doctor. My enzymes are three/four times what they should be. We decided that I should quit.

Is it normal for the pain to get worse before it gets better. Also, I can't sleep. Is that normal. I itch really bad too. Oh... and I'm seriously on the verge of panic a few times a day.

I also feel filthy... no matter how many times I shower and how hard I scrub my skin. Is all this just part of withdrawing from alcohol?

I must say, if so, this is seriously the worst I've ever felt in life.

Oh, and it feels like fleas keep jumping on me. I assure you I don't have fleas, but I can't stop slapping at my arms or examining them closely to be sure.

I'm 27 and have drank since high school and really drank heavily in the Army. I've drank pretty much every day for five years now.

I'm just rambling because I'm in pain and suffering. I know there's probably nothing I can do except for wait out the panic, pray and maybe consider rehab. Thanks.

Answers:

You are in full withdrawls.
All of your symptoms are withdrawl symptoms. And it's only been what 2 days?

I don't want to alarm you but alcohol withdrawl and benzo's are the most dangerous drugs to withdrawl from.

You need to see your Doctor today or get to the ER as I am seriously worried about your health and safety.

Alcohol withdrawl frequently has grand mal seizures as part of the withdrawls.

Go to rehab as you can't do this safely at home as you need constant medical supervison.

I feel for you as I have just been through withdrawls again and it is bloody awful.

Good on you for making a stance but please, please, please seek medical help.

It is only going to get worse than this and lasts about 9 days from alcohol withdrawl.

I don't want to have anything to happen to you now I know what you are going through and what can happen.

Just very concerned.
