No, I do not think surgery is fun for anyone.
Breathing tubes should not hurt, but I do not think they are very comfortable. Your throat can hurt after they are removed.
Yes, IVs hurt when they are being first put in - a needle is used - but not when they are in.
Laughing during surgery? Probably not, the doctors will most likely prefer you to be still in order to do their work. Although a good joke in the OR can relieve stress.
Hospitals can be scary places. Usually people who are scared have associations with hospital of pain or some other traumatic event.
An NG tube is a nasogastric tube. It is tube that goes through the nose into your stomach to provide nourishment or to remove fluids from your stomach.
Oxygen masks assist in providing oxygen to you and this can assist in more relaxed breathing.
I am fairly sure most any kind of surgery hurts, usually afterwards for awhile anyway. They will use anesthesia during the procedure and you should not feel anything during that time.
