Can you be allergic to the certain smells?!

Question: Can you be allergic to the certain smells?
i don't know but sometimes AC has a weird but strong scent that makes me feel upset. and since i knew myself whenever i smell smoke especially from cars i would immediately get a headache and feel sick. but today it was worse i got stomach pains and felt strong waves of nausea, it's been hours since then but my stomach still feels weird. what could this be? and is it an allergy at all.

Answers:

Smells could certainly cause some sort of allergies. You have a sensitive sense of smelling so if you commute i suggest you'll use a mask to avoid headache or anything that makes you fell bad. Try to use vaseline rub into your nostrils every now and then so that you will not be tainted by the smell, dust or even if somebody in the room with AC has some sort of sickness... don't you think you've got stomach flu? hopefully not, keep yourself warm and take a cup of tea, it's either to through up or be cured... it's not allergy this time, it's just bad timing but goodluck!!!

Yes, you can be allergic to smells. Some people with severe peanut allergies cannot smell them or they get a reaction. I used to be allergic to the smell of skunk; I would break out in hives, get a very sore throat, and lose my voice.
