Should I go to school tomorrow?!

Question: Should I go to school tomorrow?
I'm 14 and have a fever of 100.0. I feel like absolute crap. I have constant headache that flares up with motion, and I can't move my eyes to the side or they ache with pain. I have a very bad, wet cough and an occasional stomachache. I've already missed two days of school, plus my entire four-day weekend. I actually just got a fever a few days ago (Sunday or Monday) and it's been low, and the highest being 101.
I already have a lot of absences on my record (I get sick easily) and my parents want me to go to school tomorrow. Is there any logical reason why I shouldn't, and just go to school, pumped full of Tylenol?

Answers:

If you do go to school, please look out for the health of others. Use hand sanitizer, do not cough/sneeze into your hands, etc. I get sick easily as well, and while I understandyou wanting to go to school because you miss so much, it is unfair to other students if you go when you're sick and get other students sick.

That being said, I think you should check your temperature in the morning and see how you're feeling then. If it is 100 or lower, and you feel able to go, then go. Please do not go if your fever is higher than this, and even if your temperature is normal but you feel terrible, give your body more time to rest (maybe just go in late).

Just go to school and when you feel really bad go to the nurse and beg your parents to take you to a doctor and get antibiotics.

Go to doctor this may be something serious and needs to be checked.

Ask your parents to take you to the doctor in the morning. The only exception to this is if your headache continues to get worse. Severe headaches are nothing to mess around with. They can be as simple as a migraine, or as severe as meningitis.

If you got sick during the four day weekend, and you're still sick, it's definitely worth a trip to the doctor. It could be a nasty virus, but it could be bacterial, in which case you need antibiotics.

In general, if you have a fever you shouldn't go to school or any other public place. You're probably contagious, and nobody else wants to deal with what you have. Sure, you can wash your hands, but because you have a bad wet cough it's going to be hard, if not impossible, for you to prevent the spread of your germs.

If your parents force you to go to school, immediately go to the nurse. If you have a fever, she'll send you home. Maybe then they'll take you to the doctors.

Side note: It might be worth talking to someone at your school about developing a way for you to keep up on notes and assignments due to your repeated illnesses. I have an immune system disorder, and I know that in college I was able to work with my school's disability office and my doctors to make accommodation. It should be easier for a high school student, with less documentation, since your parents can vouch for your ailments.
