Excessive brain fluid (hydrocephaly).?!

Question:

Excessive brain fluid (hydrocephaly).?

have a 17-month son who has not been able to normally walk yet. He can walk with a help of others but not by himself. In fact, this condition is getting worse as time passes by. Doctors have diagnosed and detected excessive fluid (ventricles) in his scull and they believe this induced the syndroms, but they are not sure what instigate the problem. Some guess this happened due to the forceps' tenstion during the birth (delivery), whereas, others believe this might be a cause of a high fever when he was younger. But everybody is in agreement that there is excessive fluid around the brain. One of the pediatricians prescribed physiotherapy (exercises) to rehabilitate the walking ability. He also believes this condition must fix itself as my son grows.

Now, I am desprate and scared who I should believe and whether I should continue with the physiotherapy if, in fact, my son is a hydrocephaly

Please, advise.

My son had the exact same problem. He also had a scan done to check for hydrocephalus. In our case, the doctors were unsure. They thought that maybe he had excess fluid on the brain, but thought that it might also be normal. We were tested again later and he was fine. I do not no about physiotherapy because that was not mentioned to us.

My son had trouble sitting up, crawling, standing, and walking. His head was so large that it was a concern from birth. When he would sit up sometimes his head would fall forward due to the fact that it was so heavy. However, he finally started walking at the age of 22 months. Be reassured that he will most likely be OK. My son is now 7 and is extremely bright. He received the highest SAT score in his class. He reads and performs math skills at a fourth grade level and he is only in first. He plays baseball, soccer, and takes karate. To this day he continues to be a little less coordinated than other little boys. It took him a while to learn how to ride a scooter and bike, but nothing drastic. He also has some vision problems so we think this is why he is weary riding a bike, etc.

I don't know if I helped, but I thought maybe it would be nice to hear of another little boy who walked late and managed to surprise everybody by excelling at everything he does.
