Excessive brain fluid (hydrocephaly).?!

Question:

Excessive brain fluid (hydrocephaly).?

I have a 17-month son who has not been able to normally walk yet. He can walk with a help of others but not by himself. In fact, this condition is getting worse as time passes by. Doctors have diagnosed and detected excessive fluid (ventricles) in his scull and they believe this induced the syndroms, but they are not sure what instigate the problem. Some guess this happened due to the forceps' tenstion during the birth (delivery), whereas, others believe this might be a cause of a high fever when he was younger. But everybody is in agreement that there is excessive fluid around the brain. One of the pediatricians prescribed physiotherapy (exercises) to rehabilitate the walking ability. He also believes this condition must fix itself as my son grows.

Now, I am desprate and scared who I should believe and whether I should continue with the physiotherapy if, in fact, my son is a hydrocephaly

Please, advise.

Regards,

Although I follow the path of natural medicine and believe you could look to that for answers, my comment to you is to go to 2 more doctors (not in the same office practice) and get 2 additional opinions.

I do know that in EXTREME cases a shunt must be placed, however since it is risky, other options must first be investigated because a shunt is not always necessary to resolve the problem.

Perhaps you could contact a Dr (pediatric or neurology) at a university in your area that practices at a hospital to evaluate the situation for you. Contacting someone in naturopathic medicine might prove fruitful as well.

God Bless.
