human papillomavirus?!

Question: Human papillomavirus?
My boyfriend just found out he has HPV (he went and got tested after warts started to appear)...we've been having sex for the past few years (he admitted to being with another girl while we were on a little break...I haven't been with anyone else for about 5 years) I'm really scared that I probably have it to even though I show no symptoms. I've been researching it online and I'm confused...Is it curable? How can I get tested? What if I have it? If I don't have it, can I eventually have sex with a new partner without spreading it to them?

Answers:

if you have had unprotected sex with your boyfriend, then chances are you have it. most people don't even show any symptoms to the virus whatsoever. so it is very important that you get yourself checked out, as this virus can cause genital herpes and cervical cancer.

there is no treatment for the virus itself, so no there is no cure. so if you were to have sex with other men, you will need to constantly wear protection, as they will all contract the virus.

you will need to have a pap smear of some sort, which is usually done by your local doctor, then is sent off to be tested, and you will usually be notified in a couple of days.

all the best :)

just get tested getting a pap smear. most of the population of women actually get it. it usually goes away on its own with no symtoms and you dont evebn know u have it. if you have it they will treat it. but dont wait to long cuz if it doesnt go away on its own and it stays there it can cause cervical cancer. so with any pap smears now they always look for cervical cancer and hpv. hope this help.s
