Why do some people say ear lobe piercing hurts really bad and some people say it!

Question:

Why do some people say ear lobe piercing hurts really bad and some people say it doesnt hurt at all??

I am going to get my ear lobes pierced for the first time and I want to know why some people say it hurts really bad and other people say that it doesnt hurt at all. Because I have asked like a bunch of people and everyone says different things. And I am getting really confused and im not sure i want to do it if it is going to hurt badly. So i was wondering if it does hurt more on some people like do they have more nerves or something in their ears or are they just being a wimp and cant tolerate pain very well??

I have seen some people; including little kids not even flinch when they get their ears pierced; but i see other people like start balling and i just want to know if it really does hurt. because i can tolerate shots and they dont seem to hurt very much for me. so if i can tolerate shots; will i be able to tolerate getting my ears pierced??

thanks please let me know.
and if you get confused by this; im sorry. i just didnt know how to explain it really.

Answers:

People have different pain thresholds. Its based on physical tolerance and physiology. Think about your own- if you fall and skin a knee, do you get over it fast? Or do you whine like a baby for an hour? It can also be mental. If you have never had it done and heard horror stories, the experience might end up being worse because the idea of pain was in your mind. If you build yourself up that will be horrible, then you'll make it horrible. If you walk in like, I can do this, It's no big deal, then your brave front might make it hurt less. I've had them done twice and it hurts for like a millisecond, then it's just sore. But seriously, to me, it wasn't a big deal. I was around 8 or 9 the first time, and like 12 to get the double piercings. Some people also want to make it seem horrible so you will think they are brave for doing it in the first place. If you can take shots without much worry, then I personally think ear piercing will be no big deal for you. Just have that positive attitude. Also, think of the little kid watching you in the window. Do you want to scare them, or do you want them to know that it's ok?? Be brave, little toaster.
