methotrexate, hydrochloroquine, sulfasalazine for RA, anyone with experience of !

Question: Methotrexate, hydrochloroquine, sulfasalazine for RA, anyone with experience of these drugs?
I am so scared of staring, seems a lot and the side effects are pretty scary. Anyone out there with the same meds? how did you get on?
Many thanks for any replies

Answers:

I see a good few patients taking these medications for rheumatoid arthritis, and on the whole they are safe and cause few side effects. Methotrexate can cause problems in the lungs, but as long as you get some lung function tests before you start (so that you know what your lungs are like now) you can be confident that any change in respiratory symptoms in the future can be investigated. The benefits of taking these medications far outweigh the possible side effects.
