Pancreatic cancer is a very difficult cancer to treat, with an almost zero survival rate for 5 years. Some major teaching centers do extensive surgery, namely the Whipple procedure which can extend the patient's life a little. Also Proton treatment, available at a few select medical centers, has offered some improved results.
On a personal note, my mother at the age of 62, was diagnosed one month, and died the next. Diagnosis is difficult because the symptoms are vague, and appear late in the disease.
