Topical cream(Steroid cream) side effects?!

Question: Topical cream(Steroid cream) side effects?
I've been using a topical cream by my doctor to apply on my ankle since I have lichen simplex chronicus. I've been instructed to use it twice a day, but then the hairs on the patch grow a lot longer than the hairs outside the patch. It also makes the patch becomes darker and there are some dark - brownish spots on it and the patch becomes stretched. So is there any cure for it? How do I reverse the side effects? Please help me, I really care about my legs. And should I keep using the topical cream?

Answers:

Are you currently using Clobetasol. If so that is very high potency and you should talk to your doctor about maybe switching to a lower potency steriod such as Fluocinolone or Triamcinolone. How long have you been using the cream...it should not be used for a long period of time and no more then twice daily (if it is Clobetasol.)
