What do I do with this ganglion cyst?!

Question: What do I do with this ganglion cyst?
I have a ganglion cyst on my hand but it is small and unnoticeable what should I do?
I was thinking of waiting few weeks to see if it goes on its own and then see a doctor...

I definitively know how I got this.. whenever Im watching a movie from my laptop or Im at school.. I tend to be in a position where my head is pressed against my hand where my hands are being "folded" for hours which is not good.. muscle getting tired..

Answers:

My brother has a huge one on his wrist and i grosses me out soo much. His doctor said they can do a minor surgery to take it out, or it can stay. He said it wasn't really doing much harm in being there it just looks ugly. Another name for it is called the Bible cyst because back in the day they used to whack it with a bible to make it go away. The doctor said he doesn't recommend using the book method at all.

For you I would say go get it checked out and possibly removed now, my brother's started out small and barely noticeable and now it is sooo big and nasty, ugh.

Good Luck too you.

With surgery, the recurrence rate is reduced to 5 to 10% if the check valve at the joint capsule is removed. Arthroscopy of the wrist is becoming available as an alternative to open excision of ganglion cysts.

An out-dated method of treating a ganglion cyst was supposedly to strike the lump with a large heavy book, causing the cyst to rupture and drain into the surrounding tissues. An urban legend states that since even the poorest households often possessed a Bible, this was commonly used, which led to the nicknaming of ganglion cysts as "Bible bumps" or "Gideon's disease."
