A1C test for diabetes?!
Question: A1C test for diabetes?
Answers:
I've had Type I diabetes for 38 years, in that time I've never been told to fast for A1C, I've even been at the Dr's and he just decided to check it, no warning at all. It is a long term test covering 90 days.
No. A1C is different than a blood glucose test giving you your current blood sugar level. A1C measures the average level over a 3 month period.
no dont fast, the hba1c test just gives you a average reading of your blood sugars over the last 3 months or so. definately eat someting quick as it will in no way affect the test.
It doesn't matter, unless other tests are also being done (such as cholesterol/lipid, or a fasting blood sugar).
