What is going on if a person gets very tired after eating something they are all!

Question: What is going on if a person gets very tired after eating something they are allergic to & I mean literally wh?
I am asking what is happening literally to shut them down like this.

I just got a new job & will have a schedule that I have to follow which is different from the one I am on. So I am changing the times I eat. Today I at cupcakes for an afternoon snack but I think I will bring veggies & dip or a V8 drink. I am do tired I could fall right to sleep. I know it is the sugar. I was diagnosed with diabetes but when I eat well I have no problems.

So what is going on that causes this. If you can explain it as explaining to a 12 year old I might unederstand. Thanks.

Answers:

I have a type of hypoglycemia, when I eat sugar I produce too much insulin & often will get very tired & very sleepy also.
Sugar is directly absorbed from the stomach, it needs little in the breakdown process of digestion & has an immediate effect on insulin release. In my case I produce too much, in yours too little causing the blood sugar level to be elevated.
You don't feel tired when you don't eat sugar because even those other foods that require insulin like complex carbs require a more complex digestion process, & don't cause an immediate need for insulin release.
The whole process is over a more extended time rather than a sudden big hit & need.
Many Blessings!
