How can my mom prevent type 1 diabetic reactions?!

Question:

How can my mom prevent type 1 diabetic reactions?

My mom just had a diabetic reaction (type 1). Is there any way that i can help her prevent one happening again?

Answers:

Yes, she can. Hook your mom up with a diabetic educator. She needs to learn how to count carbs and then take the right amount of insulin. It's fairly easy. You can help her with the math.
When taking insulin, err on the side of too little insulin. In other words, it's better to have blood sugar higher than normal. Having very low blood sugar is life threatening and can lead to stroke, heart attack and coma.
Also, I hope you have some glucose tablets or liquid at hand, or maybe honey. All of those sugars can be quickly absorbed in the mouth and enter the bloodstream through the mucus membranes. Always good in an emergency.
It's very good of you to be involved with your mom's condition. There is never a dull moment when you're around diabetes! Keep up the good work.
