Is it real bad to lay in the sun after a day old (minor) sunburn? Even with sun!

Question:

Is it real bad to lay in the sun after a day old (minor) sunburn? Even with sunscreen?

I laid out yesterday and got a little red all over my body (not bad) but it's still sunburned. I'm going on vacation next week and I'm trying to get a nice tan. Is it really bad to lay out again today? Even if I have sunscreen on? Will it get worse if I do that? Or will it even out? How long should I wait before I try again? I've only got a week! I usually tan pretty easy and I don't have too fair of skin. I just don't want to make it worse than it is; but ideally I would like to make it better!

Answers:

You should wait until it fades into a light base tan before you go out again, to make sure you don't just continue to burn - going back out the next day will only increase your resmeblance of a lobster. Believe me, I made that mistake =).
