Can anyone give me information regarding a condition which affects the nerves commonly called CIDT?

I suspect you mean either CTD (carpal tunnel disease) or CIDP (chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy).

Carpal Tunnel Disease is a common condition where a band of tissue in the wrist presses on the nerves beneath it, causes tingling and/or weakness in the hands and fingers. It is easily treated by a simple operation to release the band of tissue.

Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy is a rare condition similar to Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS, also called Acute Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy). Although the cause is poorly understood, the process involves an inflammation that attacks the myelin sheath that 'insulates' nerves. The result is that the nerves can't conduct properly, causing weakness and/or changes in sensation. Treatment usually involves steroids or other immune suppressants; some people respond very well to treatment, others do not, and some have relapses after a good initial reponse.
