My friend has hepititus B and drank off my drink. Should I be concerned?!

Question: My friend has hepititus B and drank off my drink. Should I be concerned?
I have tried researching hepititus B and keep getting mixed answers. If i could have gotten it, what should i do?

Answers:

Hepatitis B is transmitted from one person to another through blood and body fluids. This can happen during unprotected sex or when sharing needles and syringes with infected persons. People also can get hepatitis B through unclean needles when getting tattoos or body piercings. Barbers can spread the virus when using unclean razors.

Hepatitis B also can be passed from an infected woman to her newborn baby during childbirth. Of these newborns, 80 to 90 percent of them will be born with hepatitis B and will go on to develop chronic hepatitis B.

People who live with an infected person are also at risk and should not share personal items such as razors, toothbrushes or nail clippers.

But to answer your question no....not off a drink or you wouldn't be eating at public restaurants if it were this easy to catch. Your stomach acids can get rid of nasty viruses and although we complain about these acids they are beneficial. Although this is a disease that is easier to acquire than HIV. There are some diseases that we can acquire after drinking after someone ill this is not one of them but active TB, active herpes lesions, flu, strep throat, etc. esp. if your immune system is compromised. If you are really stressed about this you could always go to your doctor and get tested for your own peace of mind but even they will tell you the same thing.

Hope this helps.
