My pinky and the inside of my ring finger are numb. Cause and cure?!

Question:

My pinky and the inside of my ring finger are numb. Cause and cure?

Answers:

This is ulnar nerve compression/entrapment. It is NOT carpal tunnel syndrome, as some of the others who answer think it is (carpal tunnel syndrome is the thumb, index, and middle finger). There is a nerve that passes through your elbow that controls your pinky and the outer half of your ring finger. This nerve has likely been compressed over time or by some sort of trauma. A neurologist will need to be seen who will run some nerve testing to see how much of the signal is being lost between various points on the nerve. See your doctor right away about this - the longer you wait, the worse it gets.
