Wondering about Cystoscopy test?!

Question: Wondering about Cystoscopy test?
Next month, I'm going in for a Cystoscopy test to see if we can find the cause of my frequent urination. My urologist who is doing the test says that I will be completely out for the test under general anesthesia. I was wondering what I should expect for this test. I was also wondering what anesthesia is made out of. Is it just medication or does it contain water or something. Can a doctor legally inject water into you through an IV if you are fine and you don't want it? What is it like getting an IV? Does it hurt? Is it worse than getting a shot or blood drawn? Is there something they can give me, like a small pill I can easily take before the IV so I'm not as aware as it's going in (I have had very bad experiences with needles -_-)? I know this is a lot of questions, but I am just very nervous about this test. I hate needles due to a very bad experiences with them and I don't want any needle near me but I just want this test so much that I've decided to try to get over it. Thank you.

Answers:

The test itself is simple to perform.
Your doctor will pass a little tube into your bladder and then put some water in to inflate it and have a look around.
You will know nothing about this as you will be asleep.
Afterwards you might feel just a little stinging sensation at your urethral opening where the tube was passed.
This will go away very quickly and you will feel normal once the anesthetic is out your system.

That explains where the water is going, in your bladder and not in your IV.
Bladders are as you know used to water so it doesn't cause a problem.

The anesthetic is a solution made of the active drug and a "carrier" to dilute it (often a milky like substance though not made of milk:-) ) and make it easy to get it in your IV.
It's fast, so fast you will have a second or so to notice what is going on and then you are out of it.

Getting the IV put in is no worse than getting blood drawn but if you are very tense about it do ask if you can have something to relax you beforehand or perhaps have your skin treated with a local anesthetic patch first.

With no disrespect intended they often do this for young kids.

I have had a cystoscopy and though it was easier for me because I have no fear of needles I am sure you won't be distressed during it.
