How long do I wait until my fingernail (with blood underneath) falls off?!

Question: How long do I wait until my fingernail (with blood underneath) falls off?
I had an accident happen to my fingernail a while back where the nail collects blood underneath after an impact has happened there. I haven't drained my fingernail and it doesn't hurt anymore so I've been wondering how long does it take for the nail to fall off on its own. My nail looks very black and bruised; and even is more bumpy than my other nails (I'm assuming another nail is growing underneath or maybe its the large amount of blood.) However there is no pain and it has already started healing around the nail.

Answers:

I accidentally slammed mine in the car door in October and I finally fell off on January. Yours might fall off quicker because it seems like the whole nail. (Mine was partial which probably took it so long to fall off)

It takes at least a week or maybe a few days for your nail to fall off. However if a week has past and the nail is still attached you need to remove it by yourself. In the mean time you need to take care of your finger. Clean it at least twice a day, apply betadine and wrap it with band aid or a bandage. If left untreated you could get some fungal infections.
