Why have people been picking their fingers for blood samples when pricking anywh!

Question: Why have people been picking their fingers for blood samples when pricking anywhere else would be easier?
As an engineer I find it stupid for TV commercials to be telling people that they can prick their arms instead of their fingers now. Isn't that a Duh Because companies hire kids right out of school is why this stupidity happens in my view

Answers:

You can get blood anywhere in your body if you poke it, but typically the easiest places to get to (especially when you're in public) is your arms and fingers. And your arms can actually give you a reading from up to 10 min. ago which is a problem if your levels are rapidly dropping or rising. You might get a normal reading from your arm, but in reality you might be entering a dangerous level. Your fingertips get the most recent blood so that's the most accurate place to test. You can probably get the same from your toes, but imagine sitting in class or at a restaurant trying to test from your toe! It would look pretty weird. I can also tell you from experience that it's a lot harder to get enough blood from your arm then it is from your finger. And most people don't have all day to sit and wait for their arm to stop bleeding. I'm not so sure what being an engineer has to do with you having such a strong opinion on blood sugar monitoring, but hopefully this is a good enough answer for your liking? :)

I'm confused as to why you're upset. I choose to prick my fingers because it is often harder for me to get a blood sample out of my arm.

What is stupid exactly?

P.S. I find it hard to believe you're an engineer.

The results from finger testing is more accurate.
I know many engineers and I really doubt you are an engineer.
