My son said to eat honey made in your city for allergies?!

Question:

My son said to eat honey made in your city for allergies?

My son swears by eating honey that has been made here in our city. In fact he said his allergies have decreased a great deal.

I am wanting to find out the facts behind this and if so, how much do you take each day. I am having alot of allergy problems lately and I get some what wheezy.

Any websites that I can look at to check this theory?
Thank you!

Answers:

My neighbor told me about using locally harvested honey for allergies. He said he cured his allergies 10 years ago by using it. You have to use honey that is harvested in your area. If you are in a city, I'm not sure if it is possible.
The theory is that the bees use pollen to make honey, so if you eat that honey every day you will build up an immunity to your local allergens. It will only work if your allergies are to pollen. Normally certain pollens are only floating around your area for a short time each year, so you need to eat some of the honey all year long in order to build up your immunity.
My neighbor puts just a teaspoon in his coffee each morning.
