Questions for people with Fibromyalgia...?!

Question:

Questions for people with Fibromyalgia...?

(I understand that different people have different experiences.)

What does the whole body pain that I've been reading about feel like? Is it a general feeling of discomfort with areas of pain, or does it actually *hurt* everywhere at once? How often does it hurt? Do different parts of your body hurt more than others, depending on the day? Did the pain start all at once, or did it develop gradually over the course of years? How old were you when it started?

Also, if you experience fatigue (especially CFS) with it, which became a problem (so much of a problem that you knew that there had to be something wrong) first, pain or fatigue? How old were you when you started experiencing fatigue?

Answers:

In its extreme, the body pain that I have felt reminded me of passing a kidney stone. Every muscle in my body becomes rigid. There is no comfortable position and every move makes me want to scream. If you have given birth , full blown extreme fibromyalgia feels like an unending contraction. Thats fibro at its worst.

The lesser degrees feels just like the worst case of flu you ever had. Remember how much your muscles ached ? A person who has been sedentary and starts really pushing their body hard is familar with the feeling of muscles aching everywhere. Well that is also what it can feel like. But you have it everyday. You wake up with your muscles stiff or rigid. Eventually as the day goes on your muscles loosen up. Days with weather fronts moving through make you ache more. Emotional stress can be a trigger for more pain. When you injure any part of your body it makes your whole body ache more. Exposure to chemicals can also be a trigger.

Some peoples body's are so badly damaged that even simple things like the clothing touching their bodys causes them pain.

Mine started after I slipped on a wet floor , fell backwards and hit my head on a concrete step. Many people end up with fibro from whiplash injuries.

Pain and fatigue go hand in hand when your muscles never heal from the day to day minute tears that occur from daily living. Fibromyalgia affects your sleep , its not just a pain problem. Muscles heal when you reach the deepest level of sleep, if you never reach that level your body is unable to heal itself. Its a very complex problem.
