Answers:

I am a HIV medical researcher and what I am telling you is the truth. The virus is not a living organism, therefore it cannot die. Over time the infectious particles of the virus degrade and become less infectious. There is no certain how long the blood may remain infectious because this depends on the temperature, humidity and light exposure. Generally speaking chances that you became infected are 0% The virus can only be contracted when there is a mixture of viral particles in infected blood with uninfected blood. A dried up drop of blood whould not have many viral particles that are capable of reinfecting. A day old drop would be very likely to be able to infect but only if it comes in contact with an open cut or abrasion. Just by touching your mouth may transmit a small amount of virus but most likely not enough to infect you. The older the drop of blood the less infectious it becomes generally speaking under normal conditions. If you are not sure then you can get a simple test taken at your local clinic that takes no more then a few minutes to get done to detect if you have the virus. I would not worry If I were you but just to be sure, having the test won't hurt. There will be a vaccine to the virus in about 10 years and most people who are infected live long full lives with HAART treatment.
