Last night i believe i had an anxiety attack. I experienced numbness, fast heart!

Question: Last night i believe i had an anxiety attack. I experienced numbness, fast heartbeat and tingling and i though?
I was laying in bed and i suddenly developed a numbness, and tingling. I felt terrible and couldn't help but get up, and worry - the more i worried, the worse it got. I lay in bed and calmed myself down, the more i thought about it the better i felt. my mind kept wandering back and the symptoms would return - does this sound like a panic attack and should i see a doctor?

Answers:

You don't need any medication for this - ignore the previous answer. You need a brown paper bag. What you experienced sounds like hyperventilation. You panic and think you can't breathe so you breathe faster. When you breathe too fast, your level of oxygen increases in the blood. This is not a good thing, and causes numbness and tingling in all extremities - nose, feet, hands. It's a vicious circle. Your blood needs a certain amount of carbon dioxide. If you cover your mouth and nose with a brown PAPER bag and breathe into it, you will breathe in some carbon dioxide, which will lower the blood oxygen level and stop the tingling. It will calm you down.

Make sure the bag you use is paper.

Yes, this sounds like a panic attack, but no, you do not need to see a doctor unless it starts happening multiple times a week. If it's only happened once, there is no need to see a doctor.

Cheers!

Yes, sounds like a panic attack but, unless this continues don't think you need to see a doctor.
