What percentage of the public know the difference between the 2 types of Diabete!

Question: What percentage of the public know the difference between the 2 types of Diabetes?
My class's project this term is to do a campaign about something. My group and I are doing Diabetes since I have Type 1. We've discussed that I am doing a newspaper article about it and putting it in the paper.
Our campaign is to raise awareness about 2 different types. For the article I'm writing, I really need to know the percentage of how many people know the differences. So if you know, PLEASE help me! I'll give you 5 stars since I'm desperate for it (I can't find it ANYWHERE!)! Thanks in advance.

Finding a statistic like this requires that someone, somewhere, has done the necessary research to gather the statistical information. There's no guarantee that anyone has actually done this - so you may be looking for statistics that do not actually exist.

The American Diabetes Association has a research database on it's website, so you might check there.

If you can find no research on this, perhaps you could do your own, "informal" survey. Go to a shopping mall and randomly ask people if they know the difference between the 2 types of diabetes. It would be a great way to learn about statistics!

My guess (which is not the result of any research) is that the percentage of the public (meaning people who are NOT in the medical field) who know the difference is extremely LOW.

Public awareness about diabetes is not great in general - so it's a great topic for a public awareness campaign!

Sorry, I dont think you will find it anywhere. Leave alone general public, even some diabetic patients do not know what type of diabetes they are affected with and if there is something called type-1 diabetes.

You can request the authorities of diabetes.org if they have that data. maybe they would have done an online poll on it at some point of time.
