Can you help with another blood pressure question?!

Question: Can you help with another blood pressure question?
I've been taking Enalapril ( 5mg. daily) for going on three weeks now; although my systolic is usually at 120 or 130(normal), my diastolic has a tendency to between 85 and 97 (high)~ whats the deal?! Should I consult with my Doctor to see if I need to be taking more of a dose?

Answers:

Yes, talk w/ your Dr. Take a BP reading each day for him/her to see. It may take 30 days or more to get the meds your taking now to equalize. You may also be taking in more sodium than you realize. Look at dietary changes to reinforce the meds. I had a similar issue a yr ago. My Dr put me on a really low does diuretic (water pill) & that helped so much. But it was the sodium in my case that was doing most of the damage. All is well now.

I have very high blood as well. it could be you are on the wrong dose, sometimes in the beginning until you are stabilized you need monitoring. Another thing it could be your diet, Are you eating allot of salt and caffeine? This will raise the levels of your blood pressure. Stay away from salt and all caffeine based drinks like coffee and sodas etc. I am trying to do the same. We're in this together!

you've only been taking it for 3 weeks dear.

i have malignant hypertension.. think about that for a moment.. i've been taking mine for 8 yrs and my pressure flux's.

stop eating crap also.... and get off your buttocks and move around.

Yes, you should consult the Dr. he or she may change your dose, add a diuretic, or wait to see if it goes down. Meanwhile can you exercise more, do you have clearance for it? Good Luck

always. never ask this in here. someone may actually answer incorrectly; and you may go with that answer.
