It it possible for a healthy active 18 year old to develop diabetes?!


Question: It it possible for a healthy active 18 year old to develop diabetes?
I am 18 years old 5' 5", 135lbs and active I play volleyball and run track. I was having symptoms which included odd pulses around my body and tingling in my hands and feet so went for lab test. Results came back high glucose possible diabetes? How??

TYPE 1 Diabetes is INHERITED, and if you have the genes, you ARE going to get it, no matter how healthy you are. Ask you parents if ANYONE in either family has TYPE 1 Diabetes. Especially your parents or grandparents.

TYPE 2 is caused by a poor lifestyle, and with you health regimen, it is unlikely that you would get TYPE 2 diabetes.

FOLLOW UP WITH YOUR DOCTOR!!! if you have Type 1 Diabetes, this needs to be treated NOW.



Yes, because it doesn't matter how healthy or fit you are,genetics plays a big part of it. Every family member you have that has diabetes increases your chance of having it as well.



yes it is possible...genetics...or thats just how it goes...you will be okay just keep exercising and do what the doc says
