Would diabetes even be a logical guess?!

Question: Would diabetes even be a logical guess?
I had gestational diabetes with both my pregnancies, and I know my dad has diabetes.

Lately, I've been getting some bad symptoms that all fit under diabetes; blurred vision, chest pain, dizzy when I stand up, etc. All of these symptoms are under diabetes.

But the thing is, I'm 30 (wouldn't this have shown up earlier in life?), and I'm 5'3", 107 lbs; can I write-off diabetes because I am a normal weight?

Answers:

Because you had gestational diabetes, you are more at risk for developing Type 2 diabetes. Your weight clearly has nothing to do with it. I also know a lot of thin people who are Type 2. I will say that chest pain and dizziness aren't 'typical' symptoms of diabetes, but blurred vision is. You should be getting checked for diabetes at least once a year because you were gestational diabetic and you should absolutely ask the doctor to check you now.

Best of luck to you.

I was about your age when my type 2 diabetes started. In my case it was a rare side effect of a medication that set it off.

There are other and more important symptoms of diabetes such as thirst, frequent bathroom visits and weight loss, but you don't mention them. There are also many other conditions that fit the symptoms you mention such as problems with your blood pressure.

The best thing is as always to see a doctor to get it sorted out since you might need medications for what ever it is that is causing the symptoms.
