Can fever blisters spread to your penis?!

Question:

Can fever blisters spread to your penis?

I understand that it is a type of herpes...is it possible?

Answers:

Yes, oral herpes / cold sores / fever blisters are generally caused by herpes hsv1 which can also cause genital herpes.

Are they your own fever blisters or someone else's?

If they are your own, it is highly unlikely, but avoiding touching yourself down below when you have just touched your mouth if you have a fever blister is probably a good idea.

If they are someone else's, and they are giving you oral sex, but you already get fever blisters yourself, this is also unlikely as you already have the virus in one location. Again, it is common sense that someone not give you oral sex when they have a fever blister.

If they are someone else's and you don't get fever blisters yourself, there is a higher chance that you could catch them through oral sex. There is still a smaller chance when the other person (who has oral herpes) does not have any symptoms as it is sometimes infectious when there are no symptoms.

This is what happened to me. My boyfriend gets fever blisters, he gave me oral sex (he didn't have one at the time) and I got genital herpes.
