I have completed my Gardasil vaccinations, is it safe to have sex with someone w!

Question: I have completed my Gardasil vaccinations, is it safe to have sex with someone who has HPV?
I know that this question is a little redundant, but I want to be 100% sure before doing it. I have recently finished my Gardasil vaccinations. The fellow I am having sex with has recently been diagnosed with HPV. Since I have completed the Gardasil cycle, is it okay for me to have protected sex with him?

Answers:

It depends on which strand of HPV you are coming into contact with. The Gardasil vaccination only provides you immunity to 4 strains of HPV. The protection is against 2 of the most common cerivcal cancer strains, and 2 of the most common genital warts strains. Keep in mind that there are many many strains of HPV. You cannot be certain that the strain that this guy has is covered by this vaccination. Condoms are less effective against the HPV strain that causes genital warts as condoms do not cover all of the skin that is exposed during intercourse so skin to skin contact is an easy route for transmission. Unless you can say for sure that your partner's strain is 6, 11, 16, or 18 then you have no immunity against it. If he does have one of these strains and you have protected sex with him then you will not contract HPV. If he does NOT have one of these strains, then you have the same likelyhood of contracting HPV as anyone who does not have the vaccination.

Heavens no it is not ok to have sex with him. Gardasil only helps protect you from four types of HPV. It, just like condoms and birth control, do not work 100% of the time. There are other types of HPV that Gardasil does not protect you from. Plus you could have gotten Gardasil but there is no way to tell if it worked for you, it might not have, and it does not protect you from all kinds of cervical cancers. If I where you I wouldn't want to take my chances of finding out if he has the kind of HPV that Gardasil protects against, or if Gardasil actually worked for you. Taking those kinds of risks could very well backfire on you. If this guy is a boyfriend, or a guy you don't want to dump, I suggest not going all the way with him.

No! Gardisil is only a vaccine for cervical cancer! DO NOT HAVE UNPROTECTED SEX WITH THIS DUDE!
