I have an acne problem. Help!?!

Question:

I have an acne problem. Help!?

I had pimples on and off till I was about 13. Then my pimples started thinning out and after a while, my face was totally pimple-free. a few months later, we shifted to a very dry country- before this I have always lived in a humid place. But after about a week of living in this dry country, the pimples broke out again. I have stayed here for about 1.5 years now and my pimples haven't gone, in spite of seeing a dermatologist and using her recommended medication. I have used other medication and cosmetic remedies but nothing has worked. Some people have told me to try out some home remedies. Does anyone know of something that does truly works? My skin type is dry.

Since I don't have insurance I had to find a remedy for the same sort of problem myself.

I am 35 and just recently developed acne...I think hormonal changes are to blame. I found that every acne product I used made it worse. I tried Proactiv...no help. Nothing with "Acne Free" and the acne soaps or cleaning pads caused break-outs even worse.

Here's what I found that worked. A friend suggested using Tea Tree Oil. It is a natural remedy for acne (among many other uses). It's a natural anti-microbial so it will kill the bacteria causing your acne. I use it once a day before I go to bed. My friend bought be a tiny bottle off the internet for $5. By the looks of it, it'll last me 6 months to a year of daily use. I only use 2-3 drops on a cotton pad.

In the morning you will feel a tad oily on the skin, but it's not too bad really. Therefore, in the morning I use Witch Hazel to reclean my face. Witch Hazel is also a natural product which cleans your face like alcohol, but without the drying effect. It's also a toner and astringent. I have currently used this treatment for 2 weeks and no more break-outs! You can find Witch Hazel at any drug store for about $1.50

Another important change I made was to keep my hands OFF MY FACE. Your fingers are very dirty and they can worsen the problem. This is a tricky habit to break because, as I know from experience, you use your hands to cover the acne. And picking the acne makes them worse and spreads the bacteria...another tough habit to break.

You sound like me. The acne treatments (Oxy, Neutrogena, etc.) are making it worse. Perhaps the natural remedy is the way to go for you, too, if you have sensitive skin. Just make sure you don't have allergies to Witch Hazel or Tea Tree Oil. They are both derived from plants so there is always that possibility.

Try this before seeing a dermatologist. It may save you a BUNDLE!
