Cancer is a general term for over 200 very different diseases. Not even the same type of cancer is the same in two people. No two women with breast cancer are alike. AIDS is a viral syndrome cause by retroviruses - totally unlike cancers. People who think one treatment can cure hundreds of different diseases were common in ancient times, medieval times, and present times among those who simply do not understand what they are talking about.

You are right that there is a great deal of greed in medicine - in drug companies and health insurance companies who never see nor take care of sick,dying people. Medical people on the front lines actually caring for people facing death from cancers or HIV would love to have better treatment for each disease. Even the greedy corporations would not hide an effective treatment for one or more types of cancer because they could make a great deal of money marketing it. The health insurance companies do not like new expensive chemotherapy treatments because they do not like to pay for them. Health insurance will drag their feet as long as possible before agreeing to pay for a new treatment. Medicine should not be a business at all. People who care more about money than sick patients should not be in medicine at all.

Calling it cancer is deceiving. Cancer consists of a plethora of mutations, Meaning each different form of cancer requires a different method of treatment. Also, the multitude of Causes, Cancers, and Reactions to chemicals have most likely slowed them down. While I do not think that the companies are going to peruse such a cure to the end of the world, I do think if it was plausible it would have been made already.

It really depends on the person. It's possible that a person who has this disease died even with cure, and possible that a person has that disease survive without a cure. Anything's possible, hope this helped!
