The HIV virus is present in saliva, but there is nowhere near enough to infect you - in order for there to be a risk you would have to drink buckets of it. Hence, you can't catch it through kissing, there has up to now only been one incident where a person has become infected by kissing a HIV positive person, that happened because they both had EXTREMELY bad bleeding gums and cuts in their mouths - it was not because of the saliva.
