Acne Problem - what's wrong with my skin? (Need professional help, please!)?!

Question:

Acne Problem - what's wrong with my skin? (Need professional help, please!)?

I hgave done many researches and tried many products. I have acne problem that is pass down from my mom's genetic. I have tried many acen treatment, Oxy, Neutrogena, Krystelle, etc... and none is working. The I finally try Proactiv. I am using it for 2 years and still have pimples. Proactiv helps clean up big pimples on my face and clear up very fast, but my face still continuely breakout. I keep using it because my face would be worst without it. It happens to my younger brother when he gave up using acne treatment and now he has dark red pimples all over his face. During summer, I have less breakout than school time and I force myself to drink lots of water. Currently my skin problem is that I have many whiteheads and many papules and/or pustules (it's like rarely can see it unless you get close; very tiny; some like white or clear, some like light red; and feels like sand or salt on the surface of my skin) These are all over my face especially my forehead and cheeks.

I went to see my doctor before and she gave me some pills and Benzoyl Peroxide 10% acne gel. My mom tells me not to use the pills because it might weaken my immune system once I grow older and she scares of the side effect from the pills. I tried the acne gel but it's not working. SO I am still using Proactiv.

Since I don't have insurance I had to find a remedy for the same sort of problem myself.

I am 35 and just recently developed acne...I think hormonal changes are to blame. I found that every acne product I used made it worse. I tried Proactiv...no help. Nothing with "Acne Free" and the acne soaps or cleaning pads caused break-outs even worse.

Here's what I found that worked. A friend suggested using Tea Tree Oil. It is a natural remedy for acne (among many other uses). It's a natural anti-microbial so it will kill the bacteria causing your acne. I use it once a day before I go to bed. My friend bought be a tiny bottle off the internet for $5. By the looks of it, it'll last me 6 months to a year of daily use. I only use 2-3 drops on a cotton pad.

In the morning you will feel a tad oily on the skin, but it's not too bad really. Therefore, in the morning I use Witch Hazel to reclean my face. Witch Hazel is also a natural product which cleans your face like alcohol, but without the drying effect. It's also a toner and astringent. I have currently used this treatment for 2 weeks and no more break-outs! You can find Witch Hazel at any drug store for about $1.50

Another important change I made was to keep my hands OFF MY FACE. Your fingers are very dirty and they can worsen the problem. This is a tricky habit to break because, as I know from experience, you use your hands to cover the acne. And picking the acne makes them worse and spreads the bacteria...another tough habit to break.

You sound like me. The acne treatments (Oxy, Neutrogena, etc.) are making it worse. Perhaps the natural remedy is the way to go for you, too, if you have sensitive skin. Just make sure you don't have allergies to Witch Hazel or Tea Tree Oil. They are both derived from plants so there is always that possibility.

Try this before seeing a dermatologist. It may save you a BUNDLE!
