Should a child be on Strattera, Zoloft, and Clonadine for ADHD?!

Question:

Should a child be on Strattera, Zoloft, and Clonadine for ADHD?

My cousins son is 10. He was diagnosed with ADHD and OCD. He was put on Strattera, Zoloft and Clonadine. I'm just wandering if that is safe in a child. His parents constantly talk about how bad he is and how he won't settle down, but whenever he is around other people in the family all we see is him acting like a Zombie. He don't really get excited about anything, and he acts as if he just don't care about anything. I know they have to control his ADHD and OCD, but with that much medication?

I know that these parents need to discipline him more than they do. They will tell him to do something and if he doesn't do it, with them it's like oh, see what I mean. I think that they are perfectly happy with him being on these meds because he does act like a zombie, and all he does is watch t.v. or play video games. When he is not on the meds, he wants to play outside and go to the park and stuff like that, and that's when they start complaining that he's too hyper...to me that's just being a kid.

Answers:

Tell your cousins to find a new doctor.

Strattera can increase suicidal behavior in children:

Zoloft can increase suicidal behavior in children:

Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients below the age of twelve have not been established for Clonadine (if I have the right med here).

Some doctors push the meds too hard. Try to find a psychiatrist who isn't a drug pusher. Look into alternative approaches with family and individual psychotherapy, diet, exercise etc.
