Has the herpes spread all over me?!

Question:

Has the herpes spread all over me?

Firstly, please nobody respond saying that herpes can´t occur other than in the genital or labial regions because that isn´t true (case in point: herpes whitlow, ocular, gladitorum, etc).

I had, what I believe to be, a cold sore appear four months ago. Ever since I have had a constant tingling on my upper lip but never any lesions (except for very tiny cut that would disappear after a few minutes). Just a week ago I started to have this cutting sensation in my hands, and now my arms, face, neck, & feet are very itchy and get rashes sometimes when I´m in the sun that only last for 10-20 minutes.

Have I spread my the virus from the cold sore? There has never been an "active lesion" on my lip, other than the one 4 months ago, so I assume the tingling sensation marks an extreme shedding period I was having. However, I didn´t think herpes spread so widely without a) an active lesion and b) a bad immune system (from HIV or generally fatal health).

On my hands, I haven´t had any rashes, but maybe one or two red blisters on my fingers (most of my fingers ache though), two liquid-filled blisters, and one of them was slightly swollen near the nail (which is said to be associated with herpes whitlow). Other than that, nothing appears to last long.

In response to the first reply of my question (thanks btw!) I have been to several doctors. I went to one doctor who said I didn´t have a cold sore; I´ve also been to one who just listened to what I was going through and said I had herpes and gave me Acyclovir. And the one I went to see last week took a culture from my mouth (from an ulcer, but I´ve always had mouth ulcers.) Should I go see a dermatologist? They don´t have appointments usually until a few months.

Answers:

Once you have the antibodies in your symptom, it is much harder (though not impossible) to transfer the virus to other parts of your body.

More than likely it is a mind over matter situation. Sometimes when we worry about things, our bodies can magically manfest symptoms that aren't really there. Our minds are very powerful.

If you are still concerned, try taking some Valtrex and see if it helps. Good luck!
