How do you go about living with oral herpes?!

Question:

How do you go about living with oral herpes?

Does it effect your life? How do you go about dating with it? Do you kiss someone before notifying them if you don't have a cold sore at the time? How do you know you're safe from transferring it to someone else?

Answers:

If you do not have an open, weeping sore, you are not going to give it to another person. To avoid giving it to someone else, just don't kiss them (or have oral sex with them) during an outbreak. It can be fatal to newborns, otherwise just annoying to those that suffer from it.

My ex had this (commonly referred to cold sores) and I never have had one and we were married 19 years. We just didn't kiss when he had one. Period. Never.

Also, get a script from your doc for Valtrex. If you start taking it when you feel the "tingling" (and I mean take it right away) and then another 12 hrs later, you will avoid an outbreak.

Good Luck.
