have awful hayfever and am on piriton from the doctor but doesn't quite seem to be doing the stuff this year, any ideas?

Try traditional homeopathy and/or acupuncture. Avoidance is the best. Changing your antihistamine can also help. As for the honey, be warned, that you can react to honey. You do not know what plants the bees have been pollinating. It could be things you are allergic to.
