Question:

Is it ok to sleep next to ur inertnet hub i heard it causes cancer?

Answers:

Firstly I assume that you are refering to a wireless router and one that provides a wireless connection (IEEE802.11) and not hard wired. If it is hardwired, then the chances of it giving you cancer, more than anything else around your home such as your toaster or lights, is zero.
On the other hand if it is a wireless router, then the jury is still out on this subject. But as with mobile cellular phones it does emit elctromagnetic radiation, which at high or prolonged levels may indeed be harmful to your health. Radio frequency radiation has been linked to a possible increased risk of ill health such as problems with mental function and cancer. However, firm evidence of a link at low levels of exposure has yet to be established. Some experts say that exposure from Wi-Fi signals is low and unlikely to cause damage to health.
Tests have shown that children absorb more radiation than adults when using mobile phones, raising fears that the same could be happening with computers.
With respect to safety standards, the FCC exposure standard for this class of equipment is based on an exposure of 1mW/cm2 at a distance of 20cm. The actual exposure levels should be quoted in the FCC test reports for the particular equipment. A couple I have looked at appear to have exposure numbers of 5-10% of the allowable limit at 20cm.
An Exposure Standard is however, a safety guideline which is evolving and in years to come may prove to be flawed. The body who oversee these safety standards in the US are the FCC (Federal Communications Commission).

The FCC consulted two orgqanisations in developing these standards: the NCRPM (National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements) and the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). These two organisations gathered evidence from scientists and engineers from a wide-range of fields and came up with the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR).

Where SAR is a measure of how much Radio Frequency energy is absorbed by living tissue. It is measured in Watts per Kilogram, or Milliwatts per gram. So a value of 1.6 W/Kg for mobile phones means that your head can receive up to this amount of Radio Frequency energy with the phone in use. High levels of Radio Wave exposure causes tissue to heat up. So the higher the level of SAR the more dangerous it is considered to be.
The Radio Waves emanating from your Wireless router and Wireless adaptor are about 15 to 20 times lower than that from a mobile phone. However, the SAR values for phones were derived from short bursts to the head. Wireless signals are constant, so it is difficult to compare the two. But the energy intensity is considered to be fairly low.
Having said all that, it is all a big unknown, but I would recommend limiting your exposure to this and similar devices and keep a distance of at least 30cm to be safe, as we do not know what future findings may be.
