Parasitic Diseases?!

Question:

Parasitic Diseases?

I've been reading and watching a lot about parasitic diseases. It seems like 1 out of 6 human beings are infected. I read about the symptoms but they sound like they can be confused with other illnesses. I've been to 3rd world countries and from my studies, that's where we get most of these parasites from. I know that it's hard to prevent yourself from being a host....it's not exactly what everyone is thinking about, it slips our minds. What should we do to find out if we're infected?
