Has any one else ever experienced this before?!

Question:

Has any one else ever experienced this before?

My son woke up this morning and the left had side of his face was red and swollen. As the swelling and redness didn't go down, I rang the out of hours surgery and the Doctor advised me to bring my son down to be examined.
After an examination with the doctor, I was told that my son has mumps. I just find this very bizarre as my son is up to date with his innoculations and he's had the MMR jab.
Does anybody have any ideas as to why and how my son would of caught this?

Why can't anyone be serious? All I wanted was some friendly advice from people and all I've got is abuse. How dare you people call my son names and accuse me of giving him a 'right hook'. You nasty people, god help the day you ever have kids and have to experience the pain the go through when they are ill. Grow up and keep your opinions to yourself

Charterman - Thank you very much, you've made my day!!

Answers:

Sometimes the inoculations don't always work, it may be a new strain that is resistant to some drugs.
I had mumps and lived to tell the tale. The good news is that it is better to get it now before he reaches puberty, it can make men sterile. I'm sure he will soon recover with lots of attention and nursing from mum.
Ignore ghost 2, he is probably jealous that he never got laid and so does not have any kids!
