Umbilical hernia repair scheduled for tomorrow. Should I be afraid?!

Question: Umbilical hernia repair scheduled for tomorrow. Should I be afraid?
I am scheduled to have a laproscopic umbilical hernia repair tomorrow morning. Should I be afraid? I am in good health and just gave birth to a baby in October 2010. I assume the abdominal weakness formed as a result of the pregnancy. I have had other surgeries in the past with no complications from the surgery itself or anesthesia. I am so scared about this one though.. Now I have children that depend on me and I would like to be around to watch them grow up.. Has anyone had this procedure or know of someone who has? Please share your stories.

Answers:

No, Just say a little prayer before you go you'll be fine. My grandson had it done He is fine. God bless.

May I ask what your symptoms were. I have a hiatal hernia and may need surgery but I dont know yet..I have no insurance and my doctor just threw a prescription in my face..Ive read about people having this done and they were fine. Hernia repair is suppose to be one of the easiest surgeries.

u can check out my question if you have time

have not had this procedure but have had lap surgery a few times. your doc has done many of these procedures and is qualified to do them or they would not let him/her. do not be afraid. it is a rather simple thing.

very common procedure

you should ask what mesh they are placing in there, who is the manufacturer or what type just to know.
