Are there cancer-causing chemicals in Marijuana?!

Question: Are there cancer-causing chemicals in Marijuana?
In a drug and sex program at my school it was mentioned that there are over 300 cancer-causing chemicals in Marijuana, and that smoking a single joint is 4 times worse than one cigarette. They also said that it has long-term effects. I'm just wondering because I know people who have smoked it and I never realized how dangerous it really is.

Answers:

There are cancer causing chemicals in the smoke, but you will not get cancer from it because the amount of smoke inhaled in a weed smoker's lifetime is nowhere near enough to cause cancer. Nobody has ever developed cancer from marijuana in medical history.
There is enough evidence to say that the active chemical in cannabis (THC) actually shrinks tumors (click the first link in the source).
The truth is that anti-drug organizations hardly know anything about weed. I've smoked weed since I was 14 and I've developed alot of knowledge about cannabis over that time. If I watch an anti-marijuana video I can spot so many things that aren't true, those videos really shouldn't be taken seriously. They also hide an incredible amount of information such as:

Nobody has ever died from marijuana.
Marijuana is not addictive.
It is scientifically proven that marijuana is less dangerous than alcohol.
Marijuana has huge medical value, if it were a newly discovered plant, it would be the biggest medical breakthrough since penicillin.
Unpleasant effects from marijuana (such as nausea, paranoia, etc) only happen if you smoke too much at once and usually goes away within an hour or two.
Marijuana does not cause brain damage, there is new evidence to say that cannabis promotes brain cell growth (although its not conclusive evidence, click the second link in the sources)
There is no evidence to say that cannabis causes schizophrenia or psychosis, they have only found a link between one particular strain of cannabis (hydroponic skunk) and schizophrenia only for people who have a family history of the mental illness. Finding a link is not conclusive evidence at all, I can say that there is a link between eating chicken and developing osteoporosis, it doesn't mean that it's correct.
There are many more and I don't have time to type them up, just do some of your own research if you want to know more.

I'm not saying that you should smoke weed (if you really want to, then go ahead and do it it's your choice), just understand that cannabis is not as harmful as the government tires to tell you that it is.

Legalize the green.

it is actually really dangerous. Marijuana is often laced with other drug, pcp, chemicals, and even fiberglass. It can be very dangerous and impossible to know for sure what is in it. Anytime you inhale smoke it destroys the filters in your lungs, literally burns them off. It also coats your lungs with ash and smoke. Every type of smoking does this.Marijuana can kill brain cells. Plus it can accidentally get you addicted to harder drugs because it is laced with them. The drugs and chemicals it contains can cause hallucinations and other health problems. Even just the smoke inhalation takes years to undo the damage, even then you may not be able to undo all of the damage, depending on how much damage was done.

Yes, what they told you in your drug and sex program in school was correct. Marijuana does contain more than 400 chemicals, but not all of them cause cancer. There is 50-70% more cancer causing chemicals in marijuana smoke than in cigarette smoke. Yes it's dangerous, that's why they are teaching you about it's harmful effects in school.

Yes, marijuana has carcinogens in it. The reason why it's four times worse than a cigarette is because joints don't have filters like most cigarettes do. There is debate over how long term the side effects are to marijuana and some research indicates that some brain damage does occur for long term users.
