Question:

It is said that paracetamol is not good for patiens who have HBV virus ( hepatitis B ) . Is this correct ?

I have that advice from a doctor but my doctor still give me paracetamol when i am flu !

Answers:

Yes, that's very much right.
Hepatitis B affects the liver, and the drugs like paracetamol (NSAIDs--nonsteoridal antiinflammatory drugs) do tend to damage the liver, when taken regularly. But then there aren't many alternatives to paracetamol, and other NSAIDs could be worse.

But, all this holds true only if u have chronic Hepatitis B (if u still have liver problems) or if u suffered from cirrhosis. And, if u had only an acute attack that got completely alright, then the drug could still be safe.

Hope this helps. Bye. TC.
