I worry about things really bad. I take amtriplylin but it does not seem to work.?

I have been taking it for about 5 years. I think of the worst possible think that can happen. I take the Amtriplyin for acid reflux. I don't know if it would be possible to take any other medicine to reduce this worry or anxiety. Plus sometime when I don;t take the Amtriplyin my heart beats a little fast. That kind of scared be a little.

I have used amytriptyline for about four years now but for different reasons. It was prescribed for me to manage irritable bowel syndrome (ibs) and then later for restless leg and leg cramps. It has been effective for the ibs but not for restless leg and leg cramps. my dosage was cut when other medicines were added that managed other symptoms. Have you asked your doctor about other medications for your acid reflux I take Prevacid and it has been very effective for acid reflux. Since amitryptiline is an antidepressant it could be causing some of your anxiety and the heart problems. I think you should discuss your symptoms with your dr. right away and if he/she brushes you off seek another opinion. it is important not to be on a antidepressant if you have other meds or conditions that interact with it in a negative way. good luck
