What does it look like? Does it stay bruised looking under the nail all the time?
Answers:
an ingrown toenail causes the tissues around the nail to swell and redden, doesn't change the color of the nail at all. It hurts like crazy, and often has to be cut out by a doctor. My great toes were so bad, I had the nails completely removed rather than go thru the pain of having the ingrown portions removed every three months. If your nail is discolored, you likely just stubbed your toe badly without realizing, and the discoloration will stay until the nail has grown out and the dicoloration with it. The discomfort can last for up to two months because the nail bed itself is bruised. Only time will heal that, keep your nails trimmed.
