Possible infection from cold?!

Question: Possible infection from cold?
I have been sick now for a week or so. I haven't been coughing. I've been cold and hot with no fever and it hurts when I swallow. It hurt in my throat and my ears when I would swallow. I sleep with a humidifier on every night. And my throat and ears itch now. Well yesterday I couldn't breathe through my nose at all and I went to the bathroom and sniffed through my nose and I felt a glob go into my throat so I brought it back up and spit it out and it was a glob of snot and blood about the size of a quarter. Any ideas of what this could be?? I do plan on going to the doctors soon.

"Possible infection from cold? I have been sick now for a week or so. I haven't been coughing." -- A cold is an upper respiratory infection and the primary symptom is cough and/or sneezing. I don't think you have a cold or ever did have a cold.

"Any ideas of what this could be?? I do plan on going to the doctors soon." -- I'm glad you plan on seeing your doctor because I discourage speculation. I suspect this is viral. Are you certain you had no fever because (a) you've monitored your temperature or (b) you guessed?

I'm a nurse.
