Can I get into the military if I have been diagnosed with Asthma?!
Question: Can I get into the military if I have been diagnosed with Asthma?
Answers:
It is my understanding the military will not accept an asthmatic. However, it does not seem you have been diagnosed with asthma, but maybe with reactive airway disease. They symptoms are similar, but are in reaction to an illness, or exposure to an irritant, not the chronic inflammation of asthma. I recommend you make an appointment to see a Pulmonologist (lung specialist) for evaluation and a solid diagnosis. Then you can work out a plan of care that meets your actual needs. Good Luck.

You can definitely join because most people in the army are not in combat units. As far a the rangers, you would have to prove you can keep up and make sure a doctor approves it
don't join the army if you have asthma. it would increase your risk for being killed.
I'm pretty sure your asthma was misdiagnosed. I have cold weather & exercise induced asthma & my best mile run time was about 7 min 30 sec when I was in highschool & I swear I almost died cause I couldnt breath. And thats not even a fast time. If youre doing all that stuff you say & you had asthma you'd feel it for sure. Youd be gasping for air. Im pretty sure the army won't take someone with asthma because of all the running they do & it would be a risk...hey an asthma commercial just came on tv....so you should go to a Dr. to have that previous diagnosis undone or whatever cause they'll check your medical records & its there. Have a Dr. write in your official medical records that you were misdiagnosed...unless of course you really do have it which I doubt. And as for the Rangers...I think you cant just join the Rangers straight away. You join the Army & then either apply after your basic training or youre selected to tryout if youre exceptional. But I'm pretty sure less than 10% of the people who try to become Rangers (or any other elite military force i.e. Navy Seals) actually make it through the training & become one. Good luck & I hope you dont wash out. Hoo rah, wait, thats the Marine Corps.
